Here's another installment of our "Meeting Our Staff" blog series, we chatted it up with Jesse Bloodgood, whose interest in art and marketing led him to join our team in 2017. Check out the conversation below.
What is your role at Sidle Insurance?
Marketing and Social Media
How long have you worked at Sidle Insurance?
A little over 2 ½ years
What’s it like working for a small, family-owned business?
It could be a fun challenge to work for a larger company someday, but I enjoy the casualness of working for/with people I feel I know pretty well. You feel like a person, not just an employee.
What’s your favorite thing about working in insurance?
I appreciate that I can tap into my creative side for things like content creation, artwork for advertisements, and writing for the agency's blog and social media posts. It keeps the job interesting. I also like that I’ve learned a lot. Even though I dwell on the marketing side of things, plenty of valuable insurance knowledge has rubbed off on me just from being around it. That’s been both helpful in my job and also with knowing my own insurance needs.
What’s the most challenging part of your job?
Sometimes there’s a quite a learning curve. I’m mainly self-taught in all facets of my job, including understanding the insurance products the agency provides, but I think I manage well.
What is a typical day like working at Sidle Insurance?
Most days are atypical here. It’s hard to predict what new projects are going to pop up in addition to the things I have planned.
What are three ways you would describe yourself as a worker?
Creative, detail-oriented and independent.
What makes you feel accomplished at work?
I feel most accomplished when I solve a problem or when my planning for a task pays off.
What do you enjoy doing with your free time?
I’m a musician, podcaster and songwriter. My favorite aspect is writing/creating new music and getting ideas out there. I can be a pretty independent person but I also like hanging out with my close friends. Coincidentally, this often crosses paths with making music!
